AWARD WINNING PROJECTS

The following projects received one or more awards for tree preservation. Awards have been presented by Trees for Houston, The Park People, the Greater Houston/Galveston Urban Forestry Council, and the Texas Urban Forestry Council.


SAGE PLAZA
Barnhart Interest’s Sage Plaza Retail Center located at the corner of Sage and San Felipe. Fifteen mature oak trees measuring over 20" in diameter were incorporated in the project design and preserved during construction. Five of these 20"+ trees were transplanted to a new location on site.

UPTOWN PARK BOULEVARD
Interfin Corporation's Uptown Park Boulevard where eleven trees with trunks measuring 18" - 25" in diameter and ninety-seven trees with trunks measuring 5" - 9" in diameter were transplanted along Loop 610 South to create a natural greenbelt which meanders to Buffalo Bayou.  Numerous trees were preserved adjacent to the main entry and new Uptown Park Boulevard.

SOLVAY AMERICA, Inc.
Office Building, 3333 Richmond - Preservation of 21 mature live oak trees during demolition of the original Solvay building and during construction of the current Solvay America, Inc. office building and campus, creating a park-like setting.
 

SPRING VALLEY
The preservation of one live oak tree measuring 144" in circumference and spreading over two residential lots during construction of a new house in Spring Valley.  The tree is listed in the Harris County Tree Registry.

BECK'S PRIME RESTAURANT
The preservation of one of the largest live oak trees in the city of Houston, among other large trees, during the design and construction of Beck's Prime restaurant. The tree is listed in the Harris County Tree Registry.

 

 

 

NOTABLE PROJECTS

Discovery Green Park
Located in Downtown Houston, Texas. The preservation of numerous oak trees throughout the park, including the mature live oak alee which extends from George R. Brown Convention Center to Downtown and which flanks The Grove Restaurant. Transplanting 20"+ diameter live oak trees to the alignment of the oak alee.

City of West University Place and the Tanglewood Homes Association, Inc.
S. L. Anderson Company, Ltd. was instrumental in the development of the City of West University Place's Tree Ordinance and Tanglewood Homes Association, Inc. Tree Preservation Guidlines.

METRO Transit Lanes
Preservation of live oak trees on Main Street from Mecom Fountain to Braeswood Boulevard. Tree preservation specifications and designs for project Engineers. Site monitoring during demolition and construction of the new street, curb, and sidewalk.

Tanglewood Boulevard
From San Felipe to Chimney Rock, a 16-month construction project to replace existing streets and underground utilities. S. L. Anderson Company, Ltd. provided preservation specifications and design work for the project engineers and monitored tree preservation during the construction phase.

Tanglewood Boulevard
Beautification program to span the mile-long esplanade from San Felipe to Chimney Rock.  Preparation of Tree Maintenance Specifications, design review and consultation for the Tanglewood Homes Association, Inc.

METRO Rail
In the location of Hermann Park and the Texas Medical Center. An environmental impact study was conducted on street trees for Rail design purposes.
